sTRAINING FOR SUCCESS
Cricket looms ever larger in my thoughts....
After the realisation that my first choice of Cricket club would have killed me with their training regime...(Read Tea & Crumpet entry) I have eventually signed up to play for Ocean Ridge Cricket Club.
Training is still twice per week and still taken very seriously,.. running, stretching and sports psychology, however their are some guys over 35 and overweight.
The standard remains high (the Coach is South African international Mike Rindell)
Training is great, with competitions banter and some healthy pee taking.
Everyone in Australia has to have a nickname of some sorts. Some obvious; 'Stewy' 'Smithers', some offensive, 'lard arse', 'short arse', etc.
However some nicknames both confuse and worry me. After introducing myself to one guy, he announced himself as, 'sweet balls'.....!!! the best, however, seems to belong to a guy called Terry, who everyone refers to as 'Crapper'...he however seems to think they are saying 'Cracker' and duly introduces himself as 'Cracker'...?
When I asked for an explanation another lad, 'Ducky' explained that when faced with any bowler taller than 6 foot Terry 'craps' himself...not literally I hope.
As I mentioned earlier the Club allready has a 'Stewy' so I await to be assigned a 'nickname'....'studs', 'hunky', 'muscles' perhaps....I just hope it wasn't me they were calling 'Crapper'.....
Love Stew

So you bottled the big club with a decent training regime, and went for the Aussie equivalent of Nalgo. Ha Ha!
Good move.
